Left behind along with many others, Shepard continues his journey through Black Mesa in a desperate search for a way out. Fighting to the airfield, Shephard gets the OK to leave-but something goes wrong. After meeting back up with his unit, he gets word of a complete evacuation from Black Mesa. Left in the dark too long, Adrian's transport is destroyed en route to Black Mesa and the clueless soldier (along with the others) is left to fend for himself against the growing army of aliens and zombies.Īwakening in a hospital ward, Shephard finds his head (and a radio) and starts wandering the immense facility. After a crash course in indoor combat, Shephardand the other select few in the newly- formed "Hazardous Environment Combat Unit" or "HECU" were rushed off to the Black Mesa Research Facility. When Corporal Adrian Shephard was mysteriously selected for an advanced indoor training course, no one knew how much it would change his life.
